Why Keep a Dream Journal

Dreams take up almost half of our lives. If they weren’t important why would divine creation build them in? In fact, dreams are so important, we may feel empty and lost if we don’t dream. Dreams are where the magic happens. During the waking hours, we are doing things to accomplish tasks and operate within the laws of physical nature. But in the dream world, we are allowed absolute creative freedom. We imagine, download information, and process events of the day in our dreams. Some of us disconnect from our bodies and fly around. While others get crystal clear images and live out a movie scene. Being able to visualize is the foundation of all healing and spiritual work. Hypnotherapy, manifestation, and spell work all require visualization. There are several layers of consciousness we can access when we dream. A dreamscape is a place where we are all connected to the god source, where we are all one. We get guidance from real and imaginary entities here, as well as visits from our ancestors and more. Dreaming is necessary for our well-being and evolution, both intellectually and spiritually.

How to Remember Your Dreams

The reason we forget our dreams is because we are thinking too much about other things. Maybe we’re playing a conversation while trying to recall a dream. Or maybe we have an urgent task that occupies our thoughts. If you want to remember a dream, make it ok to take a moment to relax for yourself and write down the images of things and people before it flashes away. Start with the building blocks before going into details.

What Types of Dreams Are There?

All of us are unique in our mental make up. Dreams can range from random compilations of our day to buried trauma, to precognitive psychic phenomena. For those who can access out-of-body states, you may often wonder if you were dreaming or if it was real, or if you somehow slipped into another plane of reality. For those who have contact with spirits and entities, the line often gets blurred. That is for you to ponder and question. All dreams help you in one way or another. It is either bringing you good feelings of potential outcomes or warning you about something you’ve neglected so you can do something about it.

How to Start a Dream Journal

You can easily start with a blank journal like a dot grid journal to section out things you want to record, however, there are plenty of journals with prompts to help you recall your dreams. I’ve designed a few.

Dream Journal to Help You Recall a Dream

Before you forget jot it down the important stuff. Normally usually don’t wake up with beautiful prose waiting to fill up the pages. This is for a quick memory jog. People, places, things, etc. If you want to write more there is an extra page for that.

Dream journal to ask your subconscious mind questions

For those who want to meet their guides in the dreamscape. Write your question, record your dreams.

Dream Journal to Track Dreams and Events

Are you psychic? Do dreams influence your day or does your day influence your dreams?

Dream Journal to Write and Sketch

Track your meals, rate your dreams. Flip through them later. This type of journal was designed for creative types. You can write more and sketch out scenes if that helps.

Blank dot grid dream journal

You have your own mind. You like designing things from scratch. This contains only dot grid pages.

The more you pay attention to your dreams, the more your dreams will talk, helping you trust your intuition over time. Sweet dreams!
